An Elliott ARCH computer being commissioned at Borehamwood for the Steel Company of Wales. ARCH (Articulated Control Hierarchy) was conceived as a modular system of standard analogue and digital sub-units sharing a common bus that could be configured to suit a particular industrial control application. The digital section of an ARCH installation was often based on a standard Elliott 800 series, 900 series or 4100 series processor.
